About

Alex has over 30 years of marine experience, after completing a Masters degree in Coastal Marine Structural Engineering he went on to work as a composite engineer for Vestas (Wind Turbines) and then as professional crew on wooden yachts all over the world. in 2013 he completed building his own boat and sailed from the UK to central America and back. Since then he has specialised in the installation of marine electrical systems and is a consultant engineer for projects, especially in the development carbon fibre lamination technology.

Alex is also a commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster and has worked as a skipper worldwide with a special interest in old wooden yachts. He has been involved in a number of youth sail training projects, including the Island Trust in Plymouth and is a campaigner for greater youth mental health awareness.
